TEP's Franklin County committee chairman informed me today that the Laramie Project, which dramatizes the brutal hate crime that led to the death of Matthew Shepard, is playing at the Bear Hollow Dinner Theatre located between Monteagle and Tracy City. Even ten years after Shepard's death, productions of the play continue to be an effective way of discussing the way a small town evades and comes to terms with the consequences of hate in its midst.
It is an especially appropriate time for the production after a summer of anti-GLBT hate in Tennessee. Bravo to the Bear Hollow Dinner Theatre for bringing the Laramie Project to their part of the State.
